There are a variety of opportunities for specialized training and continuing medical education on diabetes care. Below is a partial list of programs with direct links to access them.

American College of Physicians' Closing the Gap virtual learning series provides free CME credits for physicians, nurses and other allied health professionals.
The Joslin Diabetes Center's Professional Education Consortium provides ongoing, interactive educational resources, timely articles on current research and care, virtual patient cases, and step-by-step tools to implement Performance Improvement CME.
Internet Point of Care offers online CME credit-earning opportunities in return for distinct medical information searches through accredited organizations, such as the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
American Diabetes Association's Facilitating Behavior Change: Key Strategies for Empowering Your Patients is focused on enhancing clinicians' knowledge and skills to assist diabetic patients with goal setting and self-management.
The Joint Commission's Disease-Specific Care Certification for Diabetes is designed to evaluate clinical programs across the continuum of care and may be appropriate for large systems and hospitals. Organizations may seek certification for diabetes using the three components of the program: Standards, Clinical Practice Guidelines, and Performance Measurement.

Diabetes Core Curriculum Workshop

This four-day course covers the curriculum content areas of the Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) examination, the American Diabetes Association’s National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) programs, and some of the content on the Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) exam. The course is designed for health care professionals who have knowledge of diabetes education and counseling.

Presented in cooperation with the American Diabetes Association (LI Area), Diabetes Resource Coalition of Long Island, and the Metropolitan NY Assn of Diabetes Educators
